Brazilian fixed line operator Transit Telecom's service agreements with 127 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul state have helped the municipalities to reduce telephony costs by up to 65%, the company said in a statement.
The operator currently serves 127 of the 496 municipalities of the state. "We focus on smaller municipalities which do not have access to many telephony service providers. Our aim is to
help them reduce costs using contracts for fares on long distance calling and using our VoIP services," Transit
Telecom's sales director Antonio Bosco told BNamericas "So far, costs on fixed to cell phone, inter city and international calls have been reduced to 30%, while the
municipalities that use our VoIP system have been able to reduce expenses by up to 65%," said Bosco. The company operates mainly in Porto Alegre's greater metropolitan area and the mountainous area within the state. "By the end of this year, we aim to extend our services from 127 to at least 150," said Bosco. Published: Friday, April 18, 2008 // BNAmericas |
